   Ho: YAP crystal belongs to the orthorhombic structure, which is a negative biaxial crystal with optical anisotropy. Compared with Ho:YAG , Ho:YAP has similar excellent thermodynamic properties, and its inherent birefringence can effectively reduce the damage caused by thermal depolarization and thermal lensing to the beam quality, thereby increasing the laser output efficient. In addition, the anisotropy of the Ho:YAP crystal structure makes the emission cross section also anisotropic. Ho:YAP crystals with different orientations have different laser functions, output wavelengths and operating modes. Excellent thermodynamics and laser spectroscopy properties make Ho:YAP crystal one of the important crystals for achieving 2μm laser output.
